Overview
The Old Testament reflects our days of the week were to be
represented by numbers only; Day 1, Day 2, Day 3, etc. Sometime after that the days of the weeks
were all assigned names based on our solar system. The descendants of Noah used the knowledge
from their forefather Enoch to tell time based on the sun and used the moon as
a sign of proper alignment. Flavius Josephus, a first century historian, tells us that Noah and his forefathers
lived many years so that they would have time to work on astronomical and
geometrical discoveries:
“God afforded them a longer time of life on account of their virtue, and
the good use they made of it in astronomical and geometrical discoveries,
which would not have afforded the time of foretelling [the periods of the
stars] unless they had lived six hundred years; for the great year is completed
in that interval.”
Therefore, the descendants of Noah may have discovered more
about our solar system then what Enoch had documented for them. Based on the information in our bibles and
information in the book of Enoch, it would appear that they had a good
understanding of our solar system. Plus
they left us monuments like Stonehenge in England and in other places in our
world that proved they understood the solar system. Plus the ancient pyramids
of Giza and Teotihuacan are aligned to the sun and Orion’s belt.
The word planet is not in our bibles since the ancients
called them stars. The planets were
considered ‘wondering
stars’ and they referenced in our bibles as ‘morning stars’ or ‘evening
stars’ in our bible. Our ancestors did
think that the planets orbited the earth and not the sun. For over 2000 years our ancestors used the Geocentric (earth
centric; planets orbited the earth) model based on Aristotle (b. 384BC) and
Ptolemy (b. 100 AD) work and observations. The Geocentric model was known to
exist prior
to Socrates (b. 470 BC). In 1543
Catholic cleric named Copernicus published a Heliocentric (sun
centric: planet orbited the sun) model
which was later supported by Galileo and became the model used today. Then 39 years later Pope Gregory
changed our calendar starting in 1582 which was not
accepted by all Christian countries until 1922. The Russians did not change to the Pope’s
calendar until 1918 after the October Revolution which resulted in Tsar
Nicholas was forced into abdication. Greece was the last country to accept the
Pope’s calendar in 1922 which did not occur until after the 11 Sept 1922
revolution. Christians were slow to
accept both the heliocentric model and the Pope’s calendar changes. Our weekdays being named after planets
occurred during the time our ancestors believed in a geocentric model.
A larger picture can be viewed at the link below. The
numbers on the left side of picture represent the planets distance to the
center of the earth. Notice the meridian
was located in North America back then.
The right side shows the time it takes each planet to orbit the earth.
Weekday Names are Planets
The table below is from the 1903 Encyclopedia Biblica, Volume 4, page5291, and it shows how the Babylon planet names transitioned into our
current day English names:
This bible encyclopedia
goes on to state that the planet that resided over the first hour of the day
presided over the whole day.
Our bible does mention the morning and evening stars. The morning star is the star that rises just
before the sun and the evening star is the star that rises first at the evening
of the sun. The English words ‘morning
star’ are translated from different Greek and Latin words though. Here are the definitions of these words:
Greek G2193.1
Εωσφόρος, Heōsphóros from Ἕως (Héōs, “dawn”) + φέρω (phérō, “to bear, to carry”) and used as a noun
means the morning star, the planet Venus.
Latin Lūcifer, From lūx, lūcis (“light”) + -i- + -fer (“-carrying”).
Used as an adjective it means ‘light bringing’ and used as an noun it means ‘morning
star, daystar,
planet Venus’
Here are examples of that are references to the planet Venus
as the morning star:
“Or did I order the morning light in thy time; and did the morning star [G2193.1 Εωσφόρος,
Heōsphóros, the morning star the planet Venus] then first see his appointed
place; to lay hold of the extremities of the earth, to cast out the ungodly out
of it?” Sep Job
38:12-13
“And thy prayer shall be as the morning star [G2193.1
Εωσφόρος,
Heōsphóros, the morning star the planet Venus], and life shall arise to
thee as from the noonday.” Sep Job 11:17
“et quasi meridianus fulgor consurget tibi ad vesperam et cum te
consumptum putaveris orieris ut Lucifer” LV Job
11:17 (see
Latin)
“How has Lucifer
[G2193.1 Εωσφόρος,
Heōsphóros, the morning star the planet Venus], that rose in the morning,
fallen from heaven! He that sent orders to all the nations is crushed to the
earth.” Sep Isa
14:12
“quomodo cecidisti de caelo lucifer qui mane
oriebaris corruisti in terram qui vulnerabas gentes.” LV Isa 14:12 (see
Latin)
In this verse there is a reference to the evening star as
Venus:
“And dost thou understand the band of Pleias, and hast thou opened the barrier of Orion? Or wilt thou reveal Mazuroth
(Zodiac) in his season, and the evening star [Έσπερον
(hésperos) the evening star, Venus (shortened
form of ἕσπερος ἀστήρ (hésperos
astḗr))]with his rays? Wilt thou guide them? And knowest thou the changes of
heaven, or the events which take place together under heaven?” Sep Job 38:31-33
These verses do not reference a specific planet or star:
“And we have the word of prophecy made more
sure; whereunto ye do well that ye take heed, as unto a lamp shining in a dark
place, until the day dawn, and the day-star [G5459 φωσφόρος, (phōsphoros) from phos and phero, light-bringing, the
morning star, day star (this word can
also be a reference to Venus)] arise in your hearts.” ASV 2 Pet 1:19
“And we have the more firm prophetical word: whereunto you do well to
attend, as to a light that shineth in a dark place, until the day dawn, and the
day star (lucifer) arise in your hearts.” DR 2 Pet 1:19
“et habemus firmiorem propheticum sermonem cui bene facitis adtendentes
quasi lucernae lucenti in caliginoso loco donec dies inlucescat et lucifer
oriatur in cordibus vestris” LV 2 Pet 1:19 (see Latin)
“As I also have received of my Father: and I will give him the morning [G4407,
πρωϊνόν (prōinon) early morning, dawn] star [G792
ἀστέρα, (astera) a star].” Rev 2:28
“I Jesus have sent my angel, to testify to you these things in the
churches. I am the root and stock of David, the bright and morning [G4407, πρωϊνόν (prōinon) early morning,
dawn] star [G792
ἀστέρα, (astera) a star].” Rev 22:16
This Wright’s Almanac published in 1880 shows the morning and evening stars for that year on the last page.
Today the Farmer’s Almanac tells us when the planets are
morning stars and evening stars.

Planet Weekday Name Progression
Reflected below is my study of the weekday name
transitioning to planet names. I do
believe that observing each planet’s orbit is not an issue. The bible issue regarding Marduk and others was
that they made graven images that they worshiped to represent these planets on
earth which was against the laws of Moses (Exodus 20:4).
Below is further proof that the days of the week have not
changed and that the 7th day called Saturday is the Sabbath day (see more info here).

Note: The German’s
called our Father in Heaven Odin and the Latin Vulgate calls our Father Adonai
in verses Exodus 6:3 and Judith 16:16.
I’m sure they are one of the same.
Wednesday represents our Father in Heaven’s Feasts of Joy as I documented on this page.
Reflected below is Venus above the horizon on the spring
equinox just like the Babylonians would see. Some years though Venus is below the horizon
and they would not have seen it. I
believe that they knew the timing of when Venus would appear on the Spring
Equinox above the horizon. For more information on Venus and it's cycle, please see this page.
Geocentric verses Heliocentric
The picture and table below is shown so that the differences
between the two models can be identified.
The main difference is that the earth and sun trade places.
The table below reflects the Geocentric orbit days from
Ptolemy’s diagram above. The
Heliocentric orbit days come from Wikipedia.
The Seven Pointed Star & our Weekday Names
Below is a 7 pointed star that reflects how the weekdays were named and ordered based on the planets in our solar system according to Ptolemy’s Geocentric order. This is further proof that they used a Geocentric model in ancient times.
Notice that the blue outer circle order is in the earth centric order
and not the sun centric order.
The days of the week
order and the seven pointed star is well documented from many sources, here is
a couple:
There are lots of Pagan
versions, of the days of the week on the 7 pointed star, also on the internet,
here is a couple:
Geocentric - is it Biblical?
The book of Enoch and the bible tend to reflect the earth’s
relationships to the sun, plants and stars using the earth centric model. There are many old diagrams showing that many
Israelites in the past thought the center of the universe was earth and the sun
and other stars rotated around the earth (see links below). Below are a few verses that show the sun
moves, therefore confirming their belief in an earth centric model:
“And I saw the chambers of the sun and moon, whence they proceed and whither
they come again, and their glorious return, and how one is superior to the
other, and their stately orbit, and how they do not leave their orbit,
and they add nothing to their orbit and they take nothing from it, and they
keep faith with each other, in accordance with the oath by which they are bound
together. And first
the sun goes forth and traverses his
path according to the commandment of the Lord of Spirits, and mighty
is His name for ever and ever. And after that I saw the hidden and the visible
path of the moon, and she accomplishes the course of her path in that place by
day and by night-the one holding a position opposite to the other before the
Lord of Spirits.” Enoch 41:5-7
“The sun
was risen upon the earth, when
Lot entered into Segor.” Sep Gen 19:23
“And he hanged the king of Gai on a gallows; and he remained on the tree
till evening: and when the sun went down, Joshua gave charge, and
they took down his body from the tree, and cast it into a pit, and they set
over him a heap of stones until this day.” Sep Jos 8:29
“Who commands the sun, and it rises not; and he seals up the
stars.” Sep Job 9:7
“In the
sun he has set his tabernacle; and he comes forth as a bridegroom
out of his chamber: he will exult as a giant to run his course. His going forth is
from the extremity of heaven, and his circuit to the other end of heaven: and no one shall be
hidden from his heat.” Sep Psa 19:5-6
“And the
sun and the moon stood still, until God executed vengeance on their
enemies; and the sun stood still in the midst of heaven; it did not proceed to
set till the end of one day.” Sep Jos 10:13
“And this is the law and the course of the sun, and his return as often as
he returns sixty times and rises, i.e. the great luminary which is named the
sun, for ever and ever. And that which (thus) rises is the great luminary, and
is so named according to its appearance, according as the Lord commanded. As he
rises, so he sets and decreases not, and rests not, but runs day and night, and
his light is
sevenfold brighter than that of the moon; but as regards size they are both
equal.” Enoch 72:36-37
Here are verses stating the earth does not move. I could not find a verse that states the earth
has a course or circuit like the sun does in the verses above.
“Who establishes the earth on her sure foundation: it shall not be moved for ever.” Sep Psa 104:5
“Let the whole earth fear before him; let the earth be established, and not be moved.”
Sep 1Ch 16:30
“Say among the heathen, The Lord reigns: for he has established the
world so that it shall not be moved: he shall judge the people in
righteousness.” Sep Psa 96:10
“Let the whole earth fear before him; let the earth be established, and not be moved.”
Sep 1Ch 16:30
“For the day before the Sabbath, when the land was first inhabited, the
praise of a Song by David. The Lord reigns; he has clothed himself with honour:
the Lord has clothed and girded himself with strength; for he has established
the world, which shall not be moved.” Sep Psa 93:1
Just another interesting fact is that the earth was created
on day one; therefore it was made without the requirement of having a sun to
orbit. The sun and moon were not created
until the fourth day. We are also told
on day one of creation that light was also created; therefore, there was light
prior to the creation of the sun.
“In the beginning God made the heaven and the earth. But the earth was
unsightly and unfurnished, and darkness was over the deep, and the Spirit of
God moved over the water. And God said, Let there be light, and there was light. And
God saw the light that it was good, and God divided between the light and the
darkness. And God called the light Day, and the darkness he called Night, and
there was evening and there was morning, the first day.” Sep Gen
1:1-5
The Revelation to John also shows the sun and moon will not
be required when Jesus returns:
“And I saw no temple therein. For the Lord God Almighty is the temple
thereof, and the Lamb. And the city hath no need of the sun, nor of the moon, to shine in it.
For the glory of God hath enlightened it, and the Lamb is the lamp thereof.”
DR Rev 21:22-23
“And night shall be no more: and they shall not need the light of the
lamp, nor
the light of the sun, because the Lord God shall enlighten them, and
they shall reign for ever and ever.” DR Rev 22:5
Flavius
Josephus, a first century historian, tells us that the lampstand’s (candlestick)
branches represented the planets and the sun was included. Therefore, this would represent an earth
centric model like the seven pointed star.
“Over against this table, near the southern wall, was set a candlestick
of cast gold, hollow within, being of the weight of one hundred pounds, which
the Hebrews call Chinchares; if it be turned into the Greek language, it
denotes a talent. It was made with its
knops, and lilies, and pomegranates, and bowls (which ornaments amounted to
seventy in all); by which means the shaft elevated itself on high from a single
base, and spread itself into as many branches as there are planets, including the sun among
them. It terminated in seven
heads, in one row, all standing parallel to one another; and these branches
carried seven lamps, one by one, in imitation of the number of the planets.
These lamps looked to the east and to the south, the candlestick being situate
obliquely.” Antiquities.3.6.7:144-146
“When any person entered into the temple, its floor received them. This part of the temple therefore was in height sixty cubits, and its length the same; whereas its breadth was but twenty cubits: but still that sixty cubits in length was divided again, and the first part of it cut off at forty cubits, and had in it three things that were very wonderful and famous among all mankind; the candlestick, the table [OF SHEW BREAD], and the altar of incense. Now, the seven lamps signified the seven planets; for so many there were springing out of the candlestick. Now, the twelve loaves that were upon the table signified the circle of the zodiac and the year.” War.5.5.5:215-217
